ErgoFloor among the first in Denmark to obtain EPDs for its own products
Tørring, August 2025 — ErgoFloor has just been issued product-specific EPDs for a selection of its own rubber flooring products, making it one of the first companies in Denmark to document the carbon footprint of this type of product.
“ErgoFloor A/S has been working on environmental product declarations and now has product-specific EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) for selected products. EPDs are an important tool for promoting sustainability, transparency and accountability in production and consumption, contributing to a more sustainable future,” says Michael Moric, owner of ErgoFloor.
What is an EPD – and why does it matter?
An EPD is a standardised, independently verified environmental declaration that shows a product's carbon footprint throughout its life cycle, from raw materials to end of life. EPDs are becoming increasingly important in the construction industry, particularly in certification schemes and public tenders with environmental requirements.
“In some cases, EPDs may be a prerequisite for entering certain markets or securing contracts with environmentally conscious customers or governments. In the USA, for example, EPDs are required by state and federal Buy Clean initiatives as part of public procurement procedures,” says Michael Moric.
In the USA and several US states, including California, Colorado and Oregon, Buy Clean legislation requires public projects to use materials with low embodied carbon documented through EPDs.
EPDs are much more than documentation: they are a powerful tool for ensuring transparency, responsible production and market access for sustainable rubber flooring.
